Kirkbride SH20A upgrade – Working for Higgins has been fantastic, and in this time, I was lucky enough to be involved with the SH20A upgrade. This was an alliance between Higgins – Fletcher’s – BECA – NZTA. In this role, I was involved primarily as a services Engineer. As a services engineer I was primarily involved with the following:

• Key negotiations with all utility companies
• Relocation of major infrastructure including 3-11kV Cables 1x33kV Cables 4000 pairs of Copper Telecom cables.
• Drainage – Also involved with establishing self-resourced and subcontractor based drainage crews
• Lighting – Establishing Traffic Signal and Lighting contractors

Pitt Island Wharf – Working for Downer New Zealand. Once again a fantastic, as a project Manager of a project so remote from New Zealand. In this role, I was a fly in fly out project manager. With almost no communications on the island, this was vital that someone was back in New Zealand arranging for supplies. This was a 9 month project with some extremely difficult situations. From having a project that was extended into winter months (4meter + Swells are not uncommon and driving rain like nothing you would experience in New Zealand) I was once credited with solving an issue of line blasting by the Engineer to the contract Gary Tear of OCEL and was told in numerous occasions that Not many people in New Zealand could of recognised the problem we faced, and replaced the Drill Rig out for a different type, more suited drill rig in little over 3 weeks in a place as remote as Pitt Island.

Tiverton Wolverton – This was my first major project over $17 million dollars and what a fantastic opportunity to run a magnificent project. This project involved the excavation of 2.2km’s of road up to a meter thick pavement was installed. All while keeping upwards of 33,000 vehicles per day running. This project was scheduled for 2 years, and was successfully completed 4 months ahead of schedule.
